"Pop" Culture

From Friday September 10 to October 23, 2010, Scream Gallery will present new work from Pakpoom Silaphan’s “Coca-Cola series.” The Thai artist, enamored with advertising since childhood, paints on vintage cola signs. He uses them as backdrops for portraits of influential people – think Lennon, Guevera, the Queen – fusing Warhol’s elevation of brand ubiquity with individual celebrity.

Silaphan studied at Silpakorm University in Thailand and completed a Post-graduate course in print making at Camberwell College of Art. He has exhibited throughout Europe and the United States.
